Marine Scholars Spotlight: Juliet

Though Juliet recalls missing her father when he deployed, she also knew he was protecting his country. She says, “his [service] to the United States is what fuels me to want to do my part in my community.” Marine parents like Juliet’s father, veteran Sergeant Gabriel Gonzalez USMC , instill the values of Honor, Courage and Commitment in their children. Juliet carried those values as she completed her college degree in the fall; she and her sister are the first in their family to earn college degrees.

On campus, Juliet gave back to the veterans’ community by working with the Student Veterans of America. She helped to ensure student veterans and veteran dependents on campus had all the resources they needed to be successful in their educational goals, including accessing their education benefits, and registering for classes and study sessions. She also volunteers with her local Lions International Club, where she was voted their “Rookie of the Year” for her dedication to volunteering.

Growing up near Los Angeles, Juliet is passionate about the entertainment industry. She decided to pursue a degree in Business Administration with a concertation in Entrepreneurship and minor in Music at California State University, Dominquez Hills. She’s currently working for the San Antonio Spurs, but one day she wants to own and operate her own record label; she feels strongly about elevating voices from the Latino community and becoming a female business owner.

Throughout her collegiate journey, Juliet was motivated by her family, especially her father who taught her “that the hardest struggles are the most rewarding struggles.” Like her fellow Marine Scholars, Juliet goes after her goals with enthusiasm and determination.

While her professional journey is just beginning, we’re proud to have supported Juliet through her educational one. She said, “I feel this scholarship has already done so much for me that I owe it to the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation to be successful and pay it forward.”
