Aquino Family Values? Honor, Courage, Commitment

Ellyssa Aquino is the daughter of Gunnery Sergeant Pedro Aqunio USMC. Service shaped his life, the injuries he sustained in Iraq changed it forever, and now thanks to his daughters and the enduring spirit of Semper Fidelis that he instilled in them, the Aquino family is serving as a shining example of Honor, Courage and Commitment at work in their community. Today, Alyssa is attending California State University San Marcos and majoring in biotechnology with a minor in chemistry.

Her passion for being in the lab and helping people has led her on the path of becoming an Epidemiologist. On Thursday, July 30, Alyssa shared her story with other scholarship recipients at our 2015 West Coast Scholarship Announcement Ceremony in Camp Pendleton; but first the Aqunios sat down with Channel 6 News in San Diego to talk about the meaning of service and giving back despite hardship.
