Last month, the DeBartolo Family Foundation presented the Scholarship Foundation with a generous $35,000 gift for children of Marines at their Celebrity Charity Night event held at the Sacred Pepper restaurant in Tampa, Florida.
Chairman of the Scholarship Foundation Board of Directors, Lieutenant General George J. Trautman, attended the event and accepted the check from Pro Football Hall of Famer Jerry Rice.
“We are so grateful for the folks in Tampa and the Sacred Pepper for their donation to the future of our scholarship recipients,” said LtGen Trautman, “and we were overwhelmed by each guest’s enthusiasm for our cause.”
Hosted by Candy DeBartolo, owner of the Sacred Pepper, guests were treated to food, live music and drinks served by celebrity bartenders. DeBartolo’s husband, Eddie DeBartolo Jr., a 2016 Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee who won five Super Bowls as the owner of the San Francisco 49ers, recruited former and current NFL players including Brett Favre, Ronnie Lott and Jameis Winston to bartend. Food Network Celebrity Chef Tyler Florence was also on hand to help serve up drinks to guests.
We were honored to receive this donation from the DeBartolo Family Foundation, which has provided leadership and financial resources to many other organizations and individuals to improve the Tampa community since 2001. Thank you for an amazing night!
