$1 million raised for Marine Corps scholarship fund

CAMP PENDLETON — The son of a Camp Pendleton Marine was the student speaker at the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation’s annual west coast gala on Saturday. The foundation’s 32nd annual West Coast Campaign celebratory gala at Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel in Dana Point drew 300 guests and marked the donation of $1 million for scholarships, twice the amount raised during last year’s West Coast fundraising campaign, which brought in about $460,000. Donations came from community members throughout California.
