Alan Hammer joined the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation in March of 2000 following a 30-year Marine Corps career. After eight years enlisted service with attack squadrons, a battalion landing team and inspector-instructor duty, he was appointed as a warrant officer and, later, as an LDO in the Judge Advocate Division. He completed his active duty at the Pentagon, serving as the Senior Legal Administrative Officer of the Marine Corps. Alan serves on the board of his church, participating in its music ministry, and as chaplain at a retirement facility. He and his wife, Kathy, reside in Oakton, VA.
